Race Jury
The Race Jury consists of three people from the race organisation, race director Mikael Lindnord will be in charge.
The Race Jury reserves the rights to decide about time-penalties, bonuses, disqualifications and course changes.
All protests shall be written and given to Race Staff at a TA, and no later than two hours after the team reaches the finish line.
Protests must be signed by the team captain. Decisions of the Race Jury are final.
Teams who withdraw from the race have to report that to the nearest manned CP and the Race Jury.
Teams
Each team will consist of four competitors with assistants.
The race is for mixed teams, with at least one woman in the team. All female teams are allowed and compete in the same category.
The final line-up of team members must be reported during the registration prior to the race. After the registration the team may not be changed.
No changing of team members during the race is allowed. All four racers are on the course the whole time.
Assistants
All teams can have assistants, maximum two persons. The assistants will transport the teams equipment around the course, and will assist the team at specific Transition Areas (TA). The TA's will be marked on the map and roadbook that the assistants will get at registration, and assistants are not allowed to assist the team on any other places than the TA's. Assistants may under no circumstances take any of the racers place.
Keep in mind that being assistants is also a very demanding and you will sleep very little and work with pressure, just so that you are well prepared.
International teams who are having problems getting assistants please contact: helena@exploresweden.se.
Assistance from the organisation
New for this year is that we offer teams to use the organisation's transport of equipment around the course. The team will then have their different teamboxes at same place as the other teams at TA's.
The teams that use this service can choose to fly to Luleå airport and be picked up there, transported to Piteå to be dropped of at the busstation and the gear equipment will be transported by the organisation. And from there the team has to take the regular bus to Bodö, and the take the ferry over to Sörvågen/Lofoten. After the race the team with the equipment will be transported back to the airport in Luleå.
Another alternative will be that the team fly to Bodö and from there the organistation will take care of the equipment. The team then have to take the ferry over to Lofoten. After the race the team has to take the bus with all the equipment back to Bodö from Piteå. We recommend you to use the first alternative, due to the risk of having too much equipment on the bus.
This service will cost the team 6000SEK (not including the bus and ferry tickets) and must be done at the second transfer togheter with the remaining entry fee.
General
Race time is in hours, minutes and seconds.
Teams decide how much they want to sleep during the race.
The race will not have dark zones during the water sections due to the midnight sun.
Time penalties for missing equipment and due to rule breaking will be served on the race course, at a CP prior to the finish line, after discussion with race direction and the involved team(s).
The distance between team-members must not exceed 100 meters unless the Road Book or the direction says otherwise.
All four members must be present at every CP.
Traffic rules and the trespass laws must be obeyed. If they are not, the penalty will range from 30 minutes up to disqualification.
Littering will lead to time-penalty or disqualification.
Sleep-card. During 6 checkpoints the team has to take out 6 hours of rest. Those checkpoints are in the beginning of a ropework, paddlesection and a strategic good spot. This is to avoid loosing time for the teams if they have to wait before a section and make it as fair as possible.
Checkpoints (CP)
Along the course there are CP:s that have to be taken in the right order.
The teams must follow a marked route when instructed to in the Road book.
If a team misses a CP, the team has to backtrack to the CP. If not, the team will be disqualified.
Transition Areas (TA)
The team captain needs to sign in and out at every TA. The teams will meet their assistant(s) or if they choose the alternative with the solution by using the organisations transport they will find their equipment and will change gear and discipline at the TA.
The team assistant will transport the team equipment around the course to each TA, or by the organisation depending on the choice from the team.
Gear drop/pick up
At specially marked CPs, the teams are allowed to drop/pick up special equipment to be transported by the organisation or by the teams assistants.
Expo/Media
Every team will have pictures taken during the registration for the website.
The race will be covered LIVE on the internet.
Teams may link to a sponsor or to another website
Teams may not show their own sponsors on the bibvest.
Teams may expose their own sponsors on their own equipment.
